Wasim Jaffer is one of India’s best batters in the domestic setup and has scored numerous centuries and half centuries under his name. He is someone who has a lot of temperament and a good knowledge of the game.

When he was 18, he scored an unbeaten 314 runs against Saurashtra in 1996, and the match ended in a draw. However, Mumbai got five points as they had taken the lead in the game. On the other hand, Saurashtra got only three points.

The game started with Saurashtra winning the toss and choosing to bat first. They scored 595 runs, with four batters scoring centuries. They wreaked havoc on the bowling attack of Mumbai and left them helpless. Only Yalvigi claimed three wickets in the first innings. S Tanna scored 141 runs, B Jadeja scored 132 runs, F Bhatt scored 123 runs, and H Parsana scored 100 runs in the first innings.

When Mumbai came into bat, openers Wasim Jaffer and S Kulkarni wreaked havoc on the Saurashtra bowlers, taking the revenge. Jaffer scored an unbeaten 314 runs at the age of 18 which was just brilliant. Kulkarni went on to score 239 runs, and S Bahutule, who came after the first wicket went down, scored 72 runs. Thanks to these three players, Mumbai went on to score 647 runs. Parsana and Chudasama took one wicket, while Kotak took two wickets.
