Despite the fact that batters have an advantage due to more specific boundaries and thicker bats, bowlers have been able to steal the limelight with some stunning performances. On the same note, we will look at the top 3 bowling figures by New Zealand players.

1. 7/33 – Tim Southee vs England in Wellington in 2015

In the 2015 World Cup, New Zealand successfully trounced England by 8 wickets after star pacer Tim Southee produced a stunning spell of bowling resulting in a career-high 7-33. The Kiwis stormed to victory in 12.2 overs at Wellington Regional Stadium after right-arm seamer Southee’s effort saw England bundled out for 123 in 33.2 overs, with star batter Joe Root getting the highest number of runs with 46. This was an awful loss for England, who lost this match by eight wickets against the Black Caps in the 2015 ODI World Cup.

2. 6/23 – Shane Bond vs Australia in Gqeberha in 2003

During the 2003 World Cup, New Zealand star bowler Shane Bond grabbed six wickets against an Australia squad that was at the pinnacle of its powers throughout the tournament. Notably, it was unfortunate that the New Zealand batters were unable to get a victory after this fierce bowling attack. However, Bond’s spell deserves to be remembered as among the best by bowlers at the 2003 World Cup.

3. 5/25 – Richard Hadlee vs Sri Lanka in Bristol in 1983

During the 1983 World Cup, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 206 runs owing to New Zealand great bowler Richard Hadlee’s 5-wicket haul and two stunning catches during that crucial match. The Black Caps responded comfortably, winning the match by five wickets with 124 balls remaining while looking for the 207-run target. Notably, the Kiwis lost the initial five wickets but nevertheless were able to reach their target in only 39 overs. Notably, Richard was named Player of the Match following the game for his magnificent victory over the Lankan team.
