The Indians are flying high with three dominating victories in the first three matches of their World Cup campaign. After outclassing Australia, Afghanistan, and arch-rivals Pakistan they will meet Bangladesh in Pune in their next encounter. Bangladesh is a tricky opponent and the Men in Blue would be wary of this challenge. Let’s take a look at the probable starting lineup for India in their next match against the Bangla Tigers.
Top Order
Shubman Gill made a comeback in the last match against Pakistan after a spell of sickness. His comeback was cut short by Shaheen Afridi but the dashing opener looked in a sublime touch. From here on he will regain his spot as the opener along with the captain Rohit Sharma, who has taken the World Cup by storm. Hitman is in a roaring form after decimating Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Indian skipper will look to continue his momentum against Bangladesh which will not be an easy challenge to overcome.
Virat Kohli will be showing his class once again in the top order. King Kohli could not exploit perfect batting conditions in Ahmedabad as he got out after getting a start. But the modern-day great will be eyeing a solid comeback against Bangladesh. Kohli has already scored two half-centuries in the tournament. This will be another great opportunity for him to add more runs to his tally.
Middle Order
The Indian middle order will look to contribute in this match as they could not get much opportunity in the first three matches. Though we have seen considerable contributions from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. The good news for Indian fans is that Shreyas Iyer has got some runs under his belt and he will be looking to continue this form against Bangladesh. Iyer scored a half-century against Pakistan which must have given him a lot of confidence. The two all-rounders, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, have not had much to do so far with the bat in the tournament but the middle order looks settled and would be ready to take down the Bangladesh bowling attack in Pune.
Bowling Unit
The bowling unit is expected to remain the same. The spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are doing the trick for India. In the previous match against Pakistan, Kuldeep Yadav played a major role in bringing India back into the match. India will rely once again on the two spinners to give them an edge.
The fast-bowling trio will be very crucial against Bangladesh. Jasprit Bumrah is in a great wicket-taking form and he showed his class once again, against Pakistan. Siraj, after two dismal performances against Australia and Afghanistan, found his touch in Ahmedabad as he took two crucial wickets which included Babar Azam’s dismissal as well. Siraj would be desperate to get back to the supreme bowling form that he was in during the Asia Cup. Shardul Thakur would be the other fast-bowling option for captain Rohit Sharma. Hardik Pandya would give this bowling attack a different dimension with his skills. He has been commendable with the ball so far in the tournament.
