ODI debut-Top 3 bowling performance by India players 

Undoubtedly, some of India’s finest bowlers created a significant impression and gave their best efforts in their ODI debuts. Some bowlers have shown exceptional skill in their field in addition to throwing some spectacular spells that have helped their team. In a similar vein, let’s examine the best three bowling performances by Indian players in their debut match.

1. 4/54 – Prasidh Krishna vs England in Pune in 2021

Notably, on March 23, 2021, Indian star pacer Prasidh Krishna achieved India’s most significant bowling figures during his ODI cricket debut. The star pacer claimed four wickets for 54 runs in just eight overs during his debut match against England. Krishna performed magnificently after having the opportunity in his first ODI game. India thrashed England by 66 runs to lead the three-match series 1-0 shortly after the right-arm bowler took away Tom Curran, Ben Stokes, Jason Roy, and Ben Stokes. The home team had posted a target of 317 runs while opting to bat first. Later, Eoin Morgan’s England side was dismissed for just 251 runs against Virat Kohli’s Indian side.

2. 3/21 – Noel David vs West Indies in Trinidad in 1997

On April 27, 1997, India star bowler Noel David produced stats of 3 for 21 in eight overs against the Caribbean. The star bowler maintained this record for 24 long years before Prasidh Krishna surpassed it with figures of 4/54 against England in his debut match in Pune. Notably, during the second ODI, Davis made his debut and performed magnificently. Notably, on that day, the home team was sent to bat first. The West Indies were all out for just 121 runs. Later, while chasing, the Sachin Tendulkar-led Indian side won that match by 10 wickets, with 101 balls to spare, owing to a great partnership between Sachin and Sourav Ganguly.

3. 3/24 – Varun Aaron vs England in Mumbai (WS) in 2011

On October 23, 2011, India star bowler Varun Aaron played his debut ODI match against England. With his blazing pace, he bamboozled the visitors and ended with outstanding stats of 3/24. Notably, on that day, England decided to bat first against the MS Dhoni-led Indian side and posted a score of 220 runs before getting all out. Later, while chasing, Team India reached that mark with 59 balls to spare and won that match by six wickets against tough visitors.
