The Australian cricket side has created many prominent individuals throughout the course of its long history, immensely surpassing the aspirations of perhaps its most dedicated fans. On the same note, the top three bowling performances by Australian players in their debut match are given below.

1. 5/21 –Tony Dodemaide vs Sri Lanka at Perth in 1988

On January 2, 1987–88, Australia star pacer Tony Dodemaide made his first ODI appearance against Sri Lanka in Perth, where the right-arm pacer had scalped five wickets while conceding just 21 runs. During that match, the home team posted a target of 249 runs in 50 overs. Later, while chasing, the visitors collapsed for just 168 runs, handing a massive 81-run victory to the Allan Border-led Australia side.

2. 4/19 –Stuart MacGill vs Pakistan at Sydney in 2000

On January 19, 2000, Australia’s great bowler Stuart MacGill made his international debut against Pakistan, where he scalped 4 wickets while conceding 19 runs from his 10 overs with an economy of 1.90. During that match, Australia posted a score of 286 runs before going all-out. Following that, while chasing, the Men in Green were also all-out for just 210 runs, while handing a massive 85-run victory to the Waugh-led Australian side. Surprisingly, the star bowler had only appeared in three ODI matches in his cricketing career, where he last played in 2008. After the 2008 West Indies tour, MacGill announced his retirement from international cricket. The right-arm pacer has been doing commentary since his retirement and has also worked as a radio co-host.

3. 4/39 –Carl Rackemann vs New Zealand at Melbourne in 1983

Notably, on January 9, 1983, Australia left-arm bowler Carl Rackemann made his ODI debut against the Black Caps at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. The star pacer had scalped four wickets, while giving 39 runs from his 10 overs. During that Match, the visitors were sent to bat first. New Zealand was only able to rack up just 181 runs before getting all-out. Later, while chasing, Australia achieved that target very easily owing to a great partnership between their openers Kepler and John, who struck 79 and 78 runs to get a massive win against the Kiwis.
