The Asia Cup is one of the major tournaments for the teams who are playing cricket in the Asia continent. The continent is full of countries who are playing cricket when compared to the rest of the continents. To date, there have been 15 editions of the tournaments played for far with India being the most successful team as they have won the title on seven different occasions. Whereas the Sri Lanka team being the second most successful team with six titles to their name.
The Bangladesh side have been one of the major cricket-playing nations but have certainly failed to make an impact on the bigger stages by winning any prestigious trophy. But there have been several notable performances from the Bangladesh batters throughout the history of the tournament. Here are some of the notable performances from them;
144 – Mushfiqur Rahim vs Sri Lanka in 2018 at Dubai
Mushfiqur Rahim is arguably the best Wicketkeeper batter that Bangladesh have produced so far in their entire cricketing history. The wicketkeeper batter is a formidable batting force in the Bangladesh lineup who has often bailed the side out from adverse situations. Rahim was just 16 when he was chosen for that arduous journey – a pair of Tests in May, followed by six One-Day Internationals against Australia and England – although not being listed in the preliminary a team of 20.
It was in the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup where Rahim went on to score a brilliant inning of 144 runs in just 150 balls against Sri Lanka which eventually helped the Bangladesh side post a mammoth score and win the match.
121 – Litton Das vs India in 2018 at Dubai
Another bright wicketkeeper batter has played for Bangladesh in recent times. The elegant right-hand batter has had the opportunity to lead the national side as well. He is also the first wicketkeeper-batsman in Bangladesh considered good enough to be a long-term successor to Mushfiqur Rahim.
It was in the finals of the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup where, Das went on to score a splendid century registering a score of 121 runs off just 117 deliveries and also ended up winning the Player of the Match award.
117 – Mushfiqur Rahim vs India in 2014 at Fatullah
Unlike several times before, Mushfiqur Rahim proved to be a formidable batting force in the Bangladesh lineup who has often bailed the side out from adverse situations and he also did the same in a match against the Indian team where he smashed a brilliant century scoring 117 runs off 113 balls.
