Most runs by batters in winning causes in IPL

Indian Premier League has emerged as one of the iconic stages for cricketers to showcase their talent, be it v or international stars. In the 15-year-long history and 16 seasons of the tournament so far, there have been a lot of brilliant cricketing talents who came into the picture of the cricketing world with their memorable performances either with the bat or ball. 

With that said, here we’ll have a look at three batters who have scored the most runs in the winning cause for their sides throughout their entire IPL career so far. The list includes some iconic names.

1. Shikhar Dhawan – 3922 runs

The veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has played for various teams in the tournament since his debut 15 years back in the year 2008. He started his IPL stint with the Hyderabad Deccan Chargers followed by Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. 

Speaking of his contribution to the winning cause, he has the highest number of runs in the matches when his team finished on the positive side of the match. Dhawan has scored 3922 runs in 109 innings of 109 matches, in winnings. He has scored these runs with an amazing average of 45.08, including a half-century and 33 half-centuries.

2. Virat Kohli – 3799 runs

Former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli has the highest number of matches played in the winning cause. On the other hand, he is in the second spot in the list of highest run scorers in the Indian Premier League in the winning cause. Kohli has scored 3799 runs in 107 innings of 113 matches, his side won having him in the playing XI. 

The 34-year-old has scored these runs with a commendable average of 46.32 including five centuries and 24 half-centuries. With 6 ducks on his credit. He has been active in the Indian Premier League since the inception of the tournament 15 years back in 2008.

3. Rohit Sharma – 3795 runs

Current Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper in the Indian Premier League after winning 5 IPL titles as captain for Mumbai Indians. Apart from that, he has also won six titles as a player, one with Deccan Chargers in 2009 and then five with MI as skipper. 

Other than his captaincy, the MI skipper is also among one of the leading run-scorers of the tournament; he has also scored 3795 runs in a winning cause, in 126 innings of the 130 matches with an average of 37.95, including a century and 27 half-centuries.
