Michael Clarke’s Top 3 Performances in T20I Cricket

Michael Clarke's Top 3 Performances in T20I Cricket

The Australian team has been one of the most dominant teams in the history of cricket with some legendary cricketers and amazing triumphs throughout the years. There have been some great players who have gone on to be one of the greatest figures in the game. The era of Australian cricket has been something great to learn about and this time we will be looking into some of these great players.

The one player who we all should celebrate as fans of the game is former 2015 World Cup-winning skipper Michael Clarke. The talented middle-order batter has scored over 17000 international runs and was one of the most accomplished captains in World cricket. Though Clarke has had a great career in Tests and ODI’s, The T20I format has not been the best of times for him, however, he still played some vital knocks in the shortest format to make sure his side was in the game.

So, here are the top 3 best performances from Michael Clarke in T20I:

3. 37(36)* vs India in 2008

The wicket in the MCG in this match was not the easiest to bat on and though the Indian batters were bowled out for just 74, there was still a need for Clarke to play a responsible innings at the top. This is exactly what he did as he anchored the innings and made sure his side won the game in a one-sided fashion and made sure they won the Only T20I game in the series against India. This was a real captain’s knock from the batter.

2. 37(24) vs South Africa in 2006

The T20 format was still relatively new by this time and the teams were still getting used to it. However, this was still one of the most thrilling T20 games we had witnessed. The Proteas had put up a mammoth total of 201 and the Aussies did come close to chasing it down. The cameo of Clarke was one of the highlights of the game scoring 37 from just 24 deliveries. Though Australia fell short of just 2 runs it was still a great effort from Clarke to keep them in the game when everyone lost hope.

1. 67(45) vs New Zealand in 2010

This was another intense high-scoring game for the Australians and this time it was against their Tasmanian rivals New Zealand. The Kiwis put up a total of 214 on the board and would have been confident in the game. However, the partnership between Clarke and White was where we saw the best T20 knock from the skipper scoring 67(45) and making sure the game got tied and went into a super over. Though the Aussie lost the game, it was still perhaps one of the best knocks by Clarke who led the team from the front.
