India batted first and scored 289 runs. In reply, England was restricted to 154 runs which gave India a massive lead. Jhulan Goswami’s effort with the ball was the major factor behind England’s dismal batting display in the first innings. England however managed to draw the game but Jhulan Goswami did give a treat to the fans with her immaculate bowling display.

Another first-innings masterclass from Jhulan Goswami against England. She bowled this spell in Taunton, in the second match of the test series. The Indian team batted first and put up 307 runs on the board with the help of gritty innings from Anjum Chopra and Mithali Raj. When England came out to bat, they had no clue about what happened to them. Jhulan Goswami got 3 early breakthroughs as she dismissed Claire Atkins, Laura Newton, and Claire Taylor with the new ball. Later in the innings she also got the better of the English skipper Charlotte Edwards and Laura Marsh. India earned a massive lead in the first innings and imposed a follow-on because of Goswami’s heroics.

India imposed the follow-on after the first innings and in the second innings, it was again Jhulan Goswami who troubled the English batters. This time English batters showed some resilience and scored 305 runs but they could only post a target of 98 runs. India eventually chased the total with 5 wickets in hand.
