Jason Holder’s 3 best bowling figures in ODI Cricket

Jason Holder has been a very crucial player for West Indies, especially with the ball. Throughout his career, he has delivered some terrific performances with the ball to lead his side by example as the captain. Let’s look at his 3 best bowling figures in the ODI cricket.

#1. 5/27 vs India, 2017

527 vs India 2017

Jason Holder’s best bowling performance in ODI cricket came against India at Antigua in 2017. In the 4th match of the ODI series, the Indian bowling attack decimated the West Indies batting order and restricted it to a low total of 189.

The target looked like a walk in the park for India but the skipper had different intentions. The captain led by example and showed up with his brilliant bowling display. He dismissed some of the most crucial names in the Indian batting lineup including Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja among others. Eventually, West Indies won this match by 11 runs as they bowled India out for 178 runs.

#2. 5/53 vs UAE, 2018

UAE 2018

Another five-wicket haul for Jason Holder came in 2018, this time in the ODI World Cup qualifiers against UAE. Batting first, West Indies put up a huge total of 357 on the board. In reply, UAE showed some resilience but their resilience was put to the test by Jason Holder. He broke a crucial partnership between Shaiman Anwar and Rameez Shahzad and went on to pick up 5 wickets and restrict UAE to 297 runs.

#3. 4/13 vs Pakistan, 2013

Pakistan 2013

Third on this list would be Holder’s fantastic bowling performance against Pakistan in Guyana. In the first match of the ODI series, he turned up all guns blazing with the ball. Holder wreaked havoc with the new ball to take early wickets in the first innings. With a new ball in his hand, he sent Ahmed Shahzad, Mohammad Hafeez, and Nasir Jamshed back in the pavilion. Later he also scalped Asad Shafiq even before he could open his account. West Indies could not win this match but Jason Holder will remember this encounter for his new ball masterclass.
