A three-match Twenty20 International series between India and Ireland will start on Friday, August 18. Jasprit Bumrah, a speedster who has been sidelined since September 2022 due to a back stress fracture, will make his comeback in this series. On September 25, 2022, at Hyderabad, the fast bowler last competed for India against Australia in a T20 international.
Bumrah will use the series as much-needed match preparation for the next major competitions, the Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. The young team, which includes Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma who received their first India call-ups, will be led by the 29-year-old. Notably, India as well as Ireland have faced off against one another five times in T20Is so far, with India winning every time.
In the forthcoming series, the Paul Stirling-led team would be eager to take advantage of an inexperienced Indian team and break India’s winning streak against them. The Men in Blue previously lost a five-match T20I series to the West Indies by a score of 2-3, and they will be eager to avenge that defeat.
However, there are some of the names who are included in the series;
1. Rinku Singh
Once the squad for the West Indies T20I were announced, there were many fans as well as cricketing experts who vouched for including Rinku Singh into the T20 setup as the left-hand batter had a brilliant IPL 2023. In the recently concluded IPL, playing for KKR, Rinku scored 474 runs in 14 outings that he had.
2. Shivam Dube
Another promising youngster showed a lot of character and it was only that, the Southpaw was included in the squad as a replacement for Hardik Pandya due to his all-round ability. But eventually, could not deliver that on the biggest stage. But after promising IPL 2023, where he scored 418 runs at an average of 38 in just 16 outings certainly helped him book his spot into the Indian squad for Asian Games as well as the Ireland series.
3. Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna broke into the international arena as one of the promising fast bowlers but due to an injury that he sustained; the right-arm pacer was sidelined for quite a few times now. He along with Jasprit Bumrah will be making a comeback into this series. His ability to be quick and bowl on a consistent line and length will be a big weapon for the Indian team in a condition like Ireland.
