Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) have produced a lot of brilliant young cricketers in the history of the Indian Premier League. Notably, they are a crucial part of the Indian Premier League since its inception 15 years back in the year 2008. There have been a lot of amazing talents who represented Punjab Kings in this course of one and a half decade. 

Meanwhile, there have also been some of the players who appeared for Punjab at a very young age and represented the Mohali-based franchise in the tournament. With that said, here in this listicle, we’ll have a look at the 3 youngest players to play for the Punjab Kings in the history of the Indian Premier League.

1. Mujeeb Ur Rahman – 17 years on Debut

The young mystery spinner from Afghanistan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman made his first appearance for the Punjab Kings five years back in the year 2018. He was one of the brilliant talents and amazing finds in a very young age for the cricketing world. Mujeeb played his first IPL match in the 2018 season against Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils). 

He was only of the age of 17 years and 11 days when appeared for PBKS against DC. He impressed everyone with his amazing performance in the debut match against DC as he scaled two wickets conceding just 28 runs in his quota of four overs. Playing just at the age of 17 years,  Mujeeb is the youngest player to play for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.

2. Raj Bawa – 19 years on Debut

The Himachal Pradesh-born and India under-19 all-rounder, Raj Bawa hasn’t played a lot of games in his domestic career. He plays for the team of Chandigarh in domestic cricket. Last year, Bawa also made his appearance in the cash-rich franchise tournament, Indian Premier League. 

The then 19-year-old Bawa played for Punjab Kings in his first IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although it wasn’t an expected debut for the young all-rounder as he didn’t get a chance to bowl in his first match and also failed to get off the mark with the bat in the second innings of the match for PBKS.

3. Gurnoor Brar – 22 years on Debut

The Muktsar-born young pacer Gurnoor Brar has made only 5 First-Class and 1 off List-A appearance for Punjab in domestic cricket. The 22-year-old has scalped seven wickets in First-Class cricket alongside one wicket in the only List-A match he played against Goa two years back in the year 2021. 

Recently, Gurnoor also made it to the Indian Premier League in the ongoing edition of the tournament for his home team Punjab Kings. Right-arm pacer played his first match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Unfortunately, he failed to leave an impact in the first match conceding 42 runs in just 3 overs with a very expensive economy rate of 14.00. He is the third youngest player to play in the IPL for the Punjab Kings.
