In the recently concluded IPL 2023, Faf along with Kohli added 872 runs for the opening pair. 

They were the most successful opening pair of the tournament. Overall in 26 innings, the pair have added 1325 runs at an average of 50.96. They had five 100+ and six 50+ runs stand in the IPL history and have been one of the best opening pairs in recent times. A 172 run stand against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Bangalore was their highest partnership to date.
