IPL 2025: Predicting SRH’s Playing XI for their clash against Gujarat Titans

Pat Cummins and his Sunrisers Hyderabad side began the IPL 2025 with a huge win over Rajasthan Royals in their season-opening game. Since then SRH have faced a slide in form that has seen them move to the bottom of the table with two points from four games being played so far. Hyderabad after their win over the Royals, have lost to Lucknow, Delhi, and current champions Kolkata. 

The loss to Kolkata on Thursday was by a huge margin of 80 runs which now means that SRH have the worst run-rate in the current season. Pat Cummins speaking at the end of the game said that he didn’t want to dwell on the loss too much and is looking forward to going back to Hyderabad. It is going to be a massive encounter for SRH as they host the high flying Gujarat Titans on Sunday.

Top order  

Two batters who had sent a chill down the spines of opposition teams last year have failed to fire in the last few games. Both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have failed to score runs at the top of the order and this has been a huge problem for SRH this season. In the game against KKR, Head was out for four while Sharma managed to score just two runs and the duo fell before the completion of the first two overs. 

Middle Order  

After his blistering ton against RR, Ishan Kishan has seen three successive failures with the bat. The 26-year-old who is looking to make his return to the national side has seen from desert him and the batter will look to make a huge contribution with the bat on Sunday. Nitish Reddy and Kamindu Mendis were decent with the bat versus KKR with Mendis in particular impressing in parts with the bat and ball. 

Lower-order 

Heinrich Klaasen hasn’t been able to get going with the bat this season. There were glimpses of his past years’ form during his 33-run knock vs KKR on Thursday. Aniket Verma had a rare failure with the bat after impressing everyone with his big-hitting skills in the first games of the season. Pat Cummins will have to go back to basics not just as captain but also as the bowler because the 31-year-old has been struggling to pick wickets and has been expensive with the ball. 

Tail enders 

With four wickets in four games, Harshal Patel has been steady if not effective in terms of wicket-taking. The veteran pacer has found the going get tough after making his move to SRH. Patel will hope to find his old form with the ball and get his team back to winning ways. Mohammed Shami was the lone bright spark with the ball vs KKR as he bowled four overs and picked 1/29. Zeeshan Ansari picked up three wickets on his debut vs Delhi but soon found life tough vs KKR as he was smashed for 25 runs from his three overs with one wicket.
