Rajasthan Royals will play their second match of the Indian Premier League 2025 season against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. It was a tough start to the season for the Royals who were being led by young Riyan Parag. In their very first game of the season, the Royals saw Sunrisers Hyderabad score 286 runs on the board. RR lost the match by 44 runs despite defiant fifties by Dhruv Jurel and Sanju Samson.
Speaking after the game, RR skipper Riyan Parag said “It was tough, just like I expected. Credit to SRH but we could have executed better. Will have a sit down and chat about what we could have done better”. Parag will hope to do better when his team plays KKR in their next encounter.
Here is the likely RR XI vs KKR in the upcoming IPL 2025 game
Top order

Rajasthan Royals will open with Sanju Samson who will be playing as the impact sub and as a pure batter. Samson scored 66 runs off 37 balls and kept RR in the hunt while chasing 287 runs to win. Samson will hope to keep his form going and get the first win of the season. Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t have a great start to the campaign as he was out for just one run. Considering the class Jaiswal has, one can expect him to come back to form with the bat.
Middle Order

Riyan Parag got off to a great start against SRH with a four but perished in the very next ball. As a captain the youngster will have a huge role to perform with the bat and also on the field to marshal his troops. Nitish Rana has already played a few years for KKR and will know how to tackle his former teammates. Dhruv Jurel showed why he rated so highly in India with his half-century that kept RR in the hunt for an unlikely win vs SRH.
Lower-order

West Indian batter Shimron Hetmyer scored 23-ball 42 in the previous over against SRH. The left-handed batter showed his big hitting ability as he hit four huge sixes in what was a huge chase. Hetmyer was given good company by Shubham Dubey who scored 34 not out from just 11 balls. Dubey his highly rated in domestic cricket and is a huge hitter of the ball. Wanindu Hasaranga could come in for Jofra Archer after the English bowler was smashed for 76 runs from his four overs. The inclusion of Hasaranga will also give RR the much needed spin option they lacked in the last game.
Tail enders

Maheesh Theekshana will keep his spot in the side despite his below par start to life as a RR cricketer. The Sri Lankan bowler picked two wickets but was hit for 52 runs from his four overs. Sandeep Sharma and Fazalhaq Farooqi looked rusty with the ball and will want to find their best form and take early wickets for their side.
