IPL 2025: Predicting RCB’s playing XI for their clash against DC

The ‘number three’ Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on the table-toppers, Delhi Capitals (DC), in the 24th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). The game will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. They are coming off a narrow 12-run win against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last game. 

In their four games in the tournament so far, they have won three matches while losing only one. A win in this game will help them move to the top spot in the tournament’s points table. 

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the predicted playing XI of RCB for their next clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). 

Openers – Phil Salt and Virat Kohli 

The opening pair of RCB will look the same in the duo of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli; the Salt-Kohli duo has been quite successful while opening the innings for RCB in the tournament’s current season. However, Salt failed to score big in the previous game against MI but he will surely aim to make a strong comeback in the next game against DC.

Virat Kohli smashed 67 runs off just 42 balls, with eight fours and two sixes in the last game against MI. He is looking in sublime touch with the bat in the current season. RCB’s initial batting attack will mostly rely on Kohli. 

Middle-Order – Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (C), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (WK), and Tim David 

The middle order of RCB will start with the star number three batter Devdutt Padikkal; he scored 37 runs off 22 balls, with two fours and three sixes against MI. He also stitched a crucial 91-run partnership for the second wicket with former skipper Virat Kohli. Padikkal will be followed by skipper Rajat Patidar at number four, who has been in brilliant batting form. 

Patidar scored 64 runs off just 32 balls, with five fours and four sixes. Later in the middle-order, Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma will be there to bat at number five and six. Jitesh scored 40 runs off just 19 balls, with two fours and four sixes. Tim David could also contribute with some crucial runs in the lower middle order. 

All-Rounder – Krunal Pandya

Star all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been in a brilliant run of form with the ball for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2025. He claimed a match-winning four-wicket haul in the last game against Mumbai Indians, scalping 4 wickets at 45 runs in his 4 overs. 

He has scalped 7 wickets in four innings, with a decent bowling strike rate of 11.14 in the current season. Krunal is currently the second-leading wicket-taker for his side in the tournament. Apart from his bowling, he can also contribute with the bat, scoring some crucial runs in the lower order. So, the 34-year-old will be a perfect choice to pick as an all-rounder for RCB in their playing XI against DC. 

Bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, and Suyash Sharma 

RCB’s bowling attack is expected to include three out-and-out pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal Josh Hazlewood. The trio will be accompanied by the specialist spinner Suyash Sharma in the playing XI. Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood scalped 2 wickets each against MI in the last game, alongside a wicket picked by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. 

On the other hand, Suyash Sharma might also produce a brilliant spin-bowling spell with the support of star spin-all rounder Krunal Pandya. So, this quartet will be a perfect and intact bowling attack for RCB  in their next game against the table leaders Delhi Capitals.
