IPL 2025 Predicting KKR’s Playing XI for their clash against Lucknow Super Giants

Defending IPL winners, Kolkata Knight Riders, showed why they won the title last season with an easy 80-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad.  It was a comprehensive performance by KKR who saw Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Venkatesh Iyer score half-centuries. With the ball, it was Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy who led the charge for the win. 

The big test now awaits KKR as they are set to take on Lucknow in their next game. Ajinkya Rahane knows that his team needs to show more consistency if they have to keep in touch with the top four spots in the table. Currently, KKR are fifth in the table and a win against LSG will give them their third win of the season and potentially put them in the top four spots of the table.

Top order – Quinton De Kock and Sunil Narine 

Former South African star Quinton De Kock failed to get going with the bat in the last game versus SRH. The left-handed batter has already scored 97 not out in a winning effort against Rajasthan Royals a few games ago. Sunil Narine hasn’t been able to bring back his glory with the bat that was seen last year. When he gets going Narine is more than capable of hurting any team with his batting as well as bowling skills. 

Middle Order – Ajinkya Rahane, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Venkatesh Iyer

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane has been in good form with the bat for KKR in the early part of the season. The 36-year-old has given his team a good platform in the last few games and hopes to continue in the same vein. Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Venkatesh Iyer were at their aggressive best with the bat in the game against SRH and their return to form with the bat is a relief for KKR fans. 

Lower-order- Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Moeen Ali, Ramandeep Singh

Indian batter Rinku Singh finally showed signs of form with the bat in the last game vs Hyderabad. The left-handed batter had a lean start to the season and will want to do more with the bat. Andre Russell’s batting form will be a worry for KKR as the West Indian powerhouse has been a match-winner for his side. Moeen Ali didn’t get to bat in the last game but considering his experience in the IPL, Moeen will play a huge role in the games to come. Ramandeep Singh is yet another player who is waiting for his opportunities with the bat. 

Tail enders – Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy

Indian seamer Harshit Rana is yet to fire with the ball this season, Rana will be looking to hit top form with the ball in the coming games. Varun Chakravarthy has continued from where he left off in the last season and bowled a terrific spell with the ball against SRH. Chakravarthy will be the key with the ball against a strong LSG middle order which consists of Nicholas Pooran and David Miller, two batters who can change the course of the game.
