IPL 2025: Predicting GT’s playing XI for their clash against PBKS

The fifth match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is between Gujarat Titans (GT) against Punjab Kings (PBKS), two teams that have some of the top players in the team. In IPL 2022, they became champions and a year later they failed to defend the title. In IPL 2023, faced defeat in the finals against Chennai Super Kings. The Gujarat Titans had a great start to the league.  Nevertheless, this squad fell apart in 2024 after two good seasons, placing seventh in the standings.  

Ahead of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans went on major change in the team as they picked some new players and some great players of the T20 format. With Shubman Gill leading the team again they hope to get back on track. 

Top Order:

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler will be the batting attack for Gujarat Titans. Shubman Gill is a regular opener and has scored runs while opening for the team. Last season, he scored 426 runs from 12 matches. Jos Buttler is a new opening partner for Shubman Gill this season. During the mega auction, Jos Buttler was picked by Gujarat Titans as Rajasthan Royals failed to retain and use an RTM card for him. Both batters are dangerous and can give the team a good start. Sai Sudharsan adds power in the top order. The last season was very good for him as he scored 527 runs. As the season is going to start he hopes to get in that form and be a key player for the team.

Middle Order:

Shahrukh Khan made his name and Rahul Tewatia will play an important role in the middle. Over the years Rahul Tewatia has brought stability to the batting line up. While Shahruh Khan can hold the other end well. With Glenn Philips joining the side he can give strong support to the team. His hard hitting batting skills can be very effective for the team. 

Lower-Middle Order:

Washington Sundar and Rashid Khan can form a great pair while coming to bat late. Both the players can bat well when needed. While they can help the team with bowl also. Both spin bowlers can slow down the game with their experience. They can also give breakthroughs to the team.

Lower Order:

Kagiso Rabada will be the lead bowler of the team. His accurate and pace bowling makes him one of the dangerous bowlers in the league. With Mohammed Siraj coming into the team he can form a good bowling pair with Kagiso Rabada. Mohammed Siraj is very effective with the new bowl and he can pick crucial wickets. Prasidh Krishna gives them support; his extra bounce and pace can be diffuclut for batters.

Impact Player: Mahipal Lomor can be the game changing player for the team. Mahipal Lomor doesn’t get scared or nervous about playing his shots.
