Five-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings have had a miserable start to their IPL 2025 campaign. CSK began the season with a win over Mumbai Indians at home by four wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team then lost their first home game to RCB for the first time since 2008 by 50 runs. In the third game of the season, Chennai went to Guwahati where they lost to Rajasthan Royals.
Currently CSK are seventh in the table with two points from three games as they get ready to take on Delhi Capitals at home. It will be a key encounter for Gaikwad in particular who has been questioned for his captaincy. The form and fitness of MS Dhoni also will be questioned as the former India and CSK skipper hasn’t been able to recapture his best with the bat so far.

Here is the likely CSK XI vs DC in the upcoming IPL 2025 game
Top order – Rachin Ravindra and Rahul Tripathi

Kiwi batter Rachin Ravindra has been scoring runs with consistency in the current season of the IPL. The left-handed batter has scored 106 runs from three games so far with an average of 53. Rahul Tripathi on the other hand hasn’t been able to score runs at the top of the order and has failed to give his team good starts. Tripathi will hope to recapture his form and make CSK’s top order dangerous once again.
Middle Order – Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar

CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has made a mixed start to the season with fifties against MI and RR and also scored a duck against RCB. Gaikwad will play a key role at number three and will have to shoulder the burden for his side with the bat. Shivam Dube could be given a start as he is been used as a impact player in the last few games. Dube can attack DC’s spinners and set the tone with the bat. Vijay Shankar played his first game of IPL 2025 against RR and managed to score just nine runs before he was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga.
Lower-order- Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and R Ashwin
Ravindra Jadeja has been stellar with the bat so far this season lower down the order. The 36-year-old has scored 74 runs with an average 37 but has managed to pick just a single wicket from three games. MS Dhoni has been widely criticized for his batting this year and the former CSK skipper will have to come good if he wants to see his side beat Delhi Capitals. R Ashwin is yet another player who has been majorly ineffective so far but the former Indian spin ace has a lot of quality to endure a run of poor form with the bal.
Tail enders – Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmad
Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad is the leading wicket taker this season and has been at the top of his game with the ball. Matheesha Pathirana didn’t play the first match of the season but has been able to do well with the ball ever since his return to the side. Khaleel Ahmed has been at his best with the new ball but has been found wanting in the second spell where he tends to be expensive.
