IPL 2025: 3 things Gujarat Titans will look to improve from last year

IPL 2022 Champions Gujarat Titans are set to be in action in their fourth appearance in the tournament while taking the field in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025. The team will be playing under the captaincy of star India batter Shubman Gill, alongside some big names including the likes of star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan and New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips.

Besides that, the franchise also included some star players who will be playing for them for the first time in the upcoming edition of the tournaments. The list includes the star India pacer Mohammed Siraj, and the veteran pacer Ishant Sharma.

3 things that Gujarat Titans will look to improve from their experience in the tournament’s previous edition in 2024:

A strong opening pair

During the last edition of the Indian Premier League in 2024, Gujarat Titans didn’t get the expected and strong opening starts except a very few matches. There was also a lack of a permanent and stable opening pair in the team that could take the responsibility of providing a strong start for the side.

In the upcoming edition, the Titans will have a good chance to build a strong opening pair in skipper Shubman Gill, alongside former RR batter and veteran batter Jos Buttler. The duo is capable of providing a big and strong start for the Titans, especially in the powerplay phase of the innings.

An improvement in the pace bowling attack

Gujarat Titans’ pace bowling attack was seen struggling last year in IPL 2024 except for the veteran pacer Mohit Sharma who scalped 13 wickets in 11 innings. Besides him, the entire pace attack of the Titans failed to deliver up to the expectations in the tournament.

So, the pace attack will also be a department to work in, for Gujarat Titans while gearing up with their preparations for the next edition of the tournament. This year, they will have some high hopes with the star-studded pace attack, including Gerald Coetzee, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and the veteran pacer Ishant Sharma. So, the management will look ahead to get some developments in their pace attack this season.

The Middle-Order concern

The middle-order of the Gujarat Titans was not up to the mark in the previous edition of the tournament as their two key middle-order batters Rahul Tewatia and David Miller were struggling with the poor run of form; so, it will be very crucial for Tewatia to get his form back as Miller will not be there with the Titans in the upcoming season.

Besides that, another brilliant edition in the squad is the star New Zealand all-rounder and blistering batter Glenn Phillips, who can rattle any bowling attack with his power-hitting. Phillips and Tewatia will be accompanied by some brilliant domestic Indian talents, including the likes of Sai Sudharsan and Kulwant Khejroliya.
