IPL 2025: 3 changes SRH should make for their clash against GT

After getting a brilliant start to their campaign with a win against Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL 2025, SRH have been through a miserable run of form in the tournament, facing three consecutive defeats in the last three games. Their batting approach has been under  the scanner for continuous failures, resulting in back-to-back debacles for the team.

In the recently played game against KKR, Pat Cummins-led SRH faced a heavy 80-run defeat which threw them at the 10th spot in the tournament’s points table. Now, they have only one, alongside three defeats in their four games so far.

1. Promoting Aniket Verma up in the batting order

Aniket Verma

Young Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Aniket Verma has been one of the ‘top performers with the bat’ in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025. He has scored 123 runs in four innings, with a decent batting average of 30.75, hitting a half-century. Verma has recorded the highest batting strike rate among all Sunrisers Hyderabad batters in the tournament’s current season.

But the only problem with the SRH is that Aniket comes to bat lower down the order, which gives him very little chance to contribute with any big knock or some crucial runs. So, the one change SRH should make for their upcoming games in the tournament is to promote Aniket  Verma in the batting order.

2. Bringing in Atharva Taide for Strength in lower middle-order

Atharva Taide

Maharashtra-born batting all-rounder Atharva Taide was in action for PBKS in the previous editions of the tournament. He has scored 247 runs in nine games, with a decent batting strike rate of 147.02, hitting two half-centuries. He has also smashed 27 fours and eight sixes.

Later, he was bought by SRH for an amount of INR 30 lakhs in the IPL 2025 mega-auction but they haven’t given it a chance in the playing XI in the ongoing IPL 2025. He could be a crucial asset with the bat for SRH, especially in the lower middle order, which is currently a weak link for them in the tournament.

3. Enhance the spin department for the upcoming games

Zeeshan Ansari

Sunrisers Hyderabad have mostly counted on their pace attack in the bowling lineup, except for a chance given to Zeeshan Ansari in the game against Delhi Capitals. Besides that, their strength in the spin department has been found missing in their four games so far.

So, the SRH management and think tank need to give it a try to bring in an extra spinner as support for Zeeshan Ansari in the spin department. Most of the teams in the current season have had success with their spinners.
