In this article, we will discuss the IPL 2024 Predicting RR’s Playing XI for the clash against CSK. The formidable Rajasthan Royals (RR) are just one win away from securing a playoff berth in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The inaugural edition champions were on a roll in the first half of the season, but lost two of their last three matches, delaying their qualification. They are currently second in the points table with 16 points.
When Sanju Samson and Co. head south to face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday (May 12), they will aim to complete the proceedings. This is a must-win game for the defending champions to keep their playoff hopes alive. They are currently fourth in the points table with 12 points.
Here is Rajasthan Royals’ predicted playing XI against CSK in IPL 2024:
Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler
Yashasvi Jaiswal hasn’t been at his best this season but the youngster has been able to give a quick start in most of the matches. While mentioning his inconsistency, it is noteworthy that the southpaw had scored a century against Mumbai Indians (MI). As the tournament enters its crucial phase, Jaiswal will aim to contribute more with his bat.
Jos Buttler’s story is no different. The English batter has had an inconsistent run this season, but whenever the team is in trouble, he has been there to stand tall, especially during high run chases. However, his dismissal for cheap scores in the last three matches might give the management a bit of a headache.
Middle-order: Sanju Samson (c & wk), Riyan Parag, Rovman Powell, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer
Sanju Samson and Ryan Parag are the two pillars of the Royals’ batting unit. Both are competing with each other to be the team’s top scorer. With 471 runs including five half-centuries, the RR captain is currently the fifth-highest run-scorer in the tournament. On the other hand, Parag is three spots behind Samson with 436 runs including four fifties.
Rovman Powell has been a great addition to the Royals. When the West Indies skipper is at the crease, it is a relief for his team as he has the power to thrash the bowlers. Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer have failed to live up to expectations this season, but their brief cameos will be crucial for RR in the upcoming matches.
All-rounders: Ravichandran Ashwin
Though Parag and Powell can be included in the list of all-rounders they haven’t bowled a single over this season. That leaves veteran cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin as RR’s only all-round option. Ashwin will be playing at his home and CSK will be aware of the threat he poses with off-spin deliveries. He can also chip in with some crucial runs.
Bowlers: Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal
Trent Boult is a genius at taking wickets in the powerplay, especially in the first over of the innings. His intimidating pace and swing deliveries will leave batters bamboozled. However, in the last three matches, his stats are not up to the mark. Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma (Impact Player) are the other two fast-bowling options in the RR line-up.
Both are good in the death overs and will be giving a tough time to CSK finishers. Yuzvendra Chahal and Ashwin will take charge of the spin department. The leg-spinner has been leaking a lot of runs in recent matches which has worried the management.
RR XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Riyan Parag, Rovman Powell, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal
Impact Player – Sandeep Sharma
