Openers: Prabhsimran Singh, Atharva Taide

Prabhsimran Singh Atharva Taide

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have been kept on changing their opening combination this season. With Jonny Bairstow off for national duty, their new opening pair will be Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide. Prabhsimran has failed to live up to expectations and the youngster has one last chance to earn the management’s trust before next year’s mega auction.

Atharva Taide has had very few chances so far but he has failed to capitalize on them. With Bairstow unavailable, the Maharashtra cricketer is likely to be included in the XI for the upcoming match. He will have to team up with Prabhsimran to provide an effective powerplay for PBKS.

Middle-overs: Rilee Rossouw, Shashank Singh, Jitesh Sharma (c & wk), Ashutosh Sharma

Rilee Rossouw has had a slow start to his campaign but has been contributing well to the team in the last few games. He plays aggressively at No. 3, which gives them the much-needed acceleration in the middle overs. It has been a breakthrough season for Shashank Singh, who was instrumental in PBKS’s narrow success.

The right-hander has scored 352 runs at an incredible average of 50.29. He aims for another effective outing to end on a high note. Jitesh Sharma will be leading the team in the absence of skipper Sam Curran. The keeper-batter has not been able to contribute much with the bat this season. Ashutosh Sharma was sensational till the halfway stage but seemed to lose his spark as the tournament progressed.

All-rounders: Harpreet Brar

In the absence of Sam Curran, Harpreet Brar is the team’s only all-rounder. Brar can trouble the opposition with his left-arm orthodox bowling. His tight line and length will not give the opposition easy runs. He is also a handy batter at the lower order who can chip in with some crucial runs.

Bowlers: Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar, Nathan Ellis, Arshdeep Singh

In the absence of Kagiso Rabada, Harshal Patel is leading the pace unit of PBKS. The right-arm pacer, who has been troubling his opponents with variations, is currently the leading wicket-taker in the series with 12 wickets. Although he sometimes leaks a lot of runs in the death overs, PBKS benefits from his wicket-taking ability.

Nathan Ellis was impressive in the last game against RR, picking up a wicket by conceding an economy of just 6.00 in his four overs. Arshdeep Singh has been named in India’s T20 World Cup squad and will look to finish the season on a high before heading to the USA for the marquee event.

PBKS XI: Prabhsimran Singh, Atharva Taide, Rilee Rossouw, Shashank Singh, Jitesh Sharma (c & wk), Ashutosh Sharma, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar, Nathan Ellis, Arshdeep Singh
