IPL 2024: Predicting Lucknow Super Giants’ Playing XI for their clash against Gujarat Titans

This article will discuss IPL 2024 Predicting Lucknow Super Giants’ Playing XI for their clash against Gujarat Titans. Both the teams have had a similar journey. Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be taking on each other in the 21st match of the IPL 2024. Both the teams have had a similar journey in the ongoing league. GT has had a mixed bag in the league so far. They won the first match against MI by just 6 runs and lost to CSK by 63 runs hampering net run rate in the process. The 2022 champions beat SRH by 7 wickets but lost to PBKS in their last game. Shashank Singh l’s brilliant knock helped PBKS to win the game by 3 wickets.

LSG lost their first match to RR by 20 runs. But they have been on a roll since then, winning both their games. They beat PBKS by 21 runs and won their most recent game against RCB by 28 runs. At the moment, they are in the 4th spot in the points table. The emergence of Mayank Yadav has been the highlight of the season for LSG, who have been operating at a good pace with terrific line and length. He would be key for the success of LSG against GT.

Both teams would be hoping to win the upcoming game. The match is set to take place at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. It will be the second match at the venue. The home side will start as the favorites given the quality of players. GT has some of the best players in the world like Kane Williamson, Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, David Miller, Umesh Yadav, and many others. LSG has players who perform well against GT.

Here is the playing XI of LSG against GT:

Top order – KL Rahul (C), Quinton De Kock (WK), and Devdutt Padikkal

At the top, KL Rahul will continue to open the innings with Quinton De Kock. The LSG skipper is not fit to keep wickets. As a result, De Kock will be donning the gloves. Rahul played a good knock against RR and is in good rhythm. De Kock has been good in the last two games, scoring fifties against PBKS and RCB respectively.

While Rahul is a slow starter, De Kock can smash the bowlers at the top. In the later part of the innings, De Kock needs to improve his strike rate. To follow the two world class batters would be Devdutt Padikkal. The southpaw has not fired as a batter in a long time. He needs to step up and contribute to the team. His chances in the XI might be running out.

Middle order – Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, and Ayush Badoni (Impact substitute)

At number 4, Marcus Stoinis is likely to bat. The Australian batter would be hoping to make the most of the opportunity. If required, he can bowl an over or two. To follow him would be either Krunal Pandya or Nicholas Pooran. The two left-handed batters have been good with the bar for their side. Pooran has been brilliant as a fielder and Krunal is economical with the ball.

In the lower middle order, LSG might continue to play Deepak Hooda. In the new role, the talented player has been decent in the chances he has gotten so far. Against RR, he played a good hand before getting dismissed. Ayush Badoni is likely to come in as the impact substitute, who can score a few runs lower down the order. He can play an impactful cameo lower down the order.

Bowlers – Ravi Bishnoi, Maniraman Siddharth, Mayank Yadav, Yash Thakur

In the bowling unit, LSG has good names for those who are young. With the new ball, Maniraman Siddharth scored a mark against RCB. He can be good with the early swing on offer. To assist him would be Mayank Yadav who was sensational to say the least. He will primarily bowl in the middle overs but can be handy with the new ball too. He operates in good line and length.

In the middle overs, LSG has options like Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal. With their spin bowling, the duo can restrict teams to low totals. While Krunal is economical, Bishnoi can be a wicket taking option. At the death, LSG has options like Yadav and Yash Thakur. The latter is good with his yorkers. In addition to it, they have bowlers like Mohsin Khan, Naveen-Ul-Haq, and Shamar Joseph in their squad.

LSG’s predicted XI against GT: KL Rahul (C), Quinton De Kock (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, Maniraman Siddharth, Mayank Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ayush Badoni (Impact substitute)
