The Indian Premier League 2024 is still in its early days, but we already know which teams are looking good and which ones are struggling. The team that has played some great cricket right now are the Lucknow SuperGiants(LSG). They might be one of the newer teams in the league, but they have shown a lot of promise this season. KL Rahul and his men are right now 3rd on the table with 3 wins and 1 loss in their 4 games.
The last match saw the Super Giants win a low-scoring bout against 2022 IPL champions Gujarat Titans. This showed the resilience of the Lucknow franchise who have one of the most balanced squads in the tournament so far. This has been a great season so far and they will want to continue this great form in their next match. The Lucknow franchise will be hosting the Delhi Capitals at their home turf hoping to dominate the last-place team in the league so far. Let us take a look at what their possible playing squad can be
1. Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock should remain the first-choice opener for the SuperGiants going forward. The South African has played some great knocks in the past as well. He might not be in the best of form right now, but we cannot count him out of the team.
2. KL Rahul( C & WK)
KL Rahul has also been getting more starts than innings this season, but he is still the icon player and leading the side well this season. Rahul being a great player of spin on a turning wicket at Lucknow will have a chance to play a great knock and get back into form.
3. Deepak Hooda
Devdutt Paddikal has had a terrible IPL season so far at his new franchise. The last four matches have been a set of single-digit scores. There is a chance that the team might use the assistance of Deepak Hooda, who can also give a few overs of spin as well.
4. Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis proved in the last match that he is one of the most reliable all-rounders in T20 cricket. It was his innings that got the team to a decent total in the first innings of the last match. Stoinis can finish innings and give some handy spells with the ball.
5. Nicholas Pooran
The LSG vice-captain is right now the highest run scorer for the franchise and he is currently one of the top players in T20 cricket also. Pooran has once again impressed everyone with his big hits in the middle this season and he will once again be one of the dangerous batters to look out for.
6. Ayush Badoni
Ayush Badoni is one of the youngsters LSG will be backing. After all, the 24-year-old was one of the upcoming superstars for the franchise in the last two seasons. He has not done much in the season, but his 11-ball 20 cameo last game should be enough to give him another chance in the middle.
7. Krunal Pandya
Krunal Pandya has done a great job in the role he has been given in the team. He has given some economical spells and when got the chance played a handy knock in the game against Punjab. This Lucknow wicket will also give him a lot of assistance.
8. Ravi Bishnoi
The leggie has not been amongst the wickets this season so far, but we cannot leave him out yet. There is no doubt that Ravi Bishnoi is a talented spinner and he will still be one of the toughest bowlers to face at the Ekana.
9. Yash Thakur
After the last game’s performance there is no reason to leave Yash Thakur out of the playing squad. The 25-year-old pacer has taken the first fifer in the league so far. He cannot only bowl in the 140s but has some great variations to use in the death overs.
10. Naveen-ul-Haq
Naveen-ul-Haq might go for a few runs in his spell, but we cannot ignore his ability to take wickets in the middle and the death overs. His deceiving slower balls and yorkers will be effective in the matches as well.
11. Mayank Yadav
he might have only got one over in the game against GT, but Mayank Yadav is still a pacer that needs to be given as much match as he can get. He has shown in the past that not only can he bowl 150+, but also stops the flow of runs in the middle as well.
Impact- Manimaran Siddharth
The left-arm spinner has shown a lot of promise in his first few matches this season. He can bowl some tight overs in the powerplay and put pressure on the team as well. It is safe to say he is another upcoming talent that the SuperGiants might use in the future.
