India’s Top 3 run-scorers in Pink-ball Test matches 

Pink-ball Test matches came into the fold in 2015 when Australia took on New Zealand at Adelaide. Day and Night Test matches came into being to make the longest format of the game more appealing. This form of the game was also introduced to make more fans come to the stadium with their families. 

Australia has an amazing record in the Pink Ball Test matches having won 12 games and lost just once from the 13 matches played so far. The Aussies have played just one Pink Ball game against India which came four years ago in Adelaide. The game is famous for India recording their lowest-ever score of 36/9 in Test cricket history. 

India’s first ever Pink Ball game way back in 2019 where they took on Bangladesh in the encounter. Team India won the game with ease as Virat Kohli’s men won the series 2-0. Then Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored a brilliant ton to set the tone for a huge win for the home team.

3- Shreyas Iyer -159 runs from 1 match

29-year-old Shreyas Iyer was part of the team that played their final Pink Ball Test 2 years ago. The match was against Sri Lanka played in Bengaluru in early 2022 the home team won by 238 runs. India batted first and were bowled out for 252, with Shreyas Iyer top-scoring with 92 in the first innings. The visitors were all out for 109 in their 1st innings to give India a lead of 143 runs. Rohit Sharma and his men declared the innings at 303/9 with Iyer scoring 67 runs from 87 balls. Chasing 447 to win, Sri Lanka were all out for 208 with skipper Dimuth Karunaratne scoring 107 runs. 

2- Rohit Sharma – 173 runs from 3 matches

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has scored 173 runs from three Pink Ball test matches. The right-handed batter scored 21 in the only innings against Bangladesh during the 2019 Test. His next outing was during the two-day Test against England where Rohit scored 66 and 25 before scoring 61 runs across two innings across Sri Lanka. Rohit’s best of 66 came during the short game versus England where India was all out for 145 in the 1st innings. 

1 – Virat Kohli – 277 runs from four matches

Indian star Virat Kohli has scored the most runs in the Pink Ball Test matches. The former India skipper began with an imperious 136 off 194 balls versus Bangladesh during the 2019 game in Kolkata this was followed by 74 runs in the 1st innings at the Adelaide game. In the second innings, Kohli scored just 4 runs as India managed 36/9. In the Ahmedabad Test against England, Kohli scored 27 runs in the only innings he batted. In what was India’s final Pink Ball Test for 2 years, Kohli scored 36 runs during the Bengaluru Test against Sri Lanka to take his tally to 277 runs.
