India have been one of the most dominant teams in the T20 format over the past few years. The world number T20 team has not only shown their dominance at home but also defeated teams like Australia, England, and New Zealand in their own backyard. However, despite being one of the top T20I teams in World Cricket, India weren’t able to win the 2022 Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. Although India have registered some of the biggest wins in the format throughout the years by the margin of runs. Let’s have a look at India’s top three biggest wins in T20Is.

The champions of the previous two editions of the Asia Cup were already out of the race to get into the finals after losing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka consecutively in the top four. However, India still had the chance to finish their campaign on a high note against Afghanistan to build more confidence for the 20-20 World Cup in the latter year. India batted first at the Dubai International Stadium and scored a big total of 212 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. This match also an end to the century drought of Virat Kohli as he remained unbeaten on 122 runs off 61 balls hitting 12 fours and six sixes. Kohli not just scored an international hundred after 1021 days, but also scored his maiden T20I hundred. In reply to India’s total, Afghanistan could only score 111 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. India won the game by 101 runs to finish their campaign in UAE.

India were scheduled to play two T20Is in Ireland before their big summer in England in 2018, consisting of 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs, and 5 Test matches. India kickstarted their series with a huge victory in the first T20I against Ireland. While batting first in Malahide, India posted 213 for 4 powered by KL Rahul’s 70 off 36 along with Suresh Raina’s 69 off 45. Hardik Pandya played a big cameo in the end by smashing 32 runs off just 9 balls hitting one four and four sixes. In reply to India’s total, Ireland got bowled for just 70 runs as Yuzvednra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav scalped 3-3 wickets each. India won the game by a big margin of 143 runs and went to win the second T20I to clinch the series by 2-0.

India have registered their highest T20I win against New Zealand earlier this year. The three-match T20I series was standing at 1-1 and India put up a run-fest at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad powered by Shubman Gill’s maiden T20I century. India posted a mammoth total of 234 runs for the loss of 4 wickets as Gill remained unbeaten on 126 runs off 63 balls, hitting 12 fours and seven sixes. The 23-year-old became the top scorer for India in the shortest format surpassing Virat Kohli’s 122 against Afghanistan. In reply to India’s total, New Zealand got bowled out for just 66 runs in 12.1 overs as India won the game by 168 runs to clinch the series by 2-1
