Indian cricket greatest three wins on overseas tours

The torch of Indian captaincy has been passed from Ajit Wadekar, who led India, to Rohit Sharma who is the leader at this time. India is currently one of the world’s top cricket teams, although the process began years before.  Along the way, there have been disappointments, defeats, and frustrations, but everything has contributed to India becoming a cricketing powerhouse. There have been great wins for Team India in their overseas tours in the past decades but these are the best three.

1) India vs Australia (2021, Brisbane)

This was a triumph for the generations by India, one that will be lauded on the subcontinent as probably their finest in Test history. At no moment did they get anything working for them. Since 1988, Australia has not lost at the Gabba. In Brisbane, no team has ever won a Test match with a score of 329 or more. India, however, batted according to a strategy on the final day of the last Test, finishing with three overs to secure a victory that will hang around long in the memory. Even after being steamrolled for an all-time bottom of 36 in Adelaide, India has displayed tremendous bravery and character throughout this series, but on that, they displayed a lethal intent that is emblematic of the new India.

2) India vs England (2021, Lord’s)

In the second Test at Lord’s, India’s pacemen shined with both bat and the ball as Virat Kohli’s team crushed England by 151 runs. India’s victory gave them a 1-0 series lead after Trent Bridge’s draw was marred by rain. This was only India’s third victory in 19 Test matches. On the last day, England, whose target was 272 to win in at least 60 overs, was dismissed for 120. After Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami dismissed openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley for only one run each, they were in a desperate situation at 1-2. Then, fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj followed up with a performance of 4-32, ending the game by dismissing James Anderson.

3) India vs Pakistan (2003/04, Multan)

In their home country, India defeated Pakistan in a Test match for the first time ever. In 2003/04, India had a resounding victory and outperformed the hosts in all three categories. The Indian team had superstars all around the squad with the likes of Rahul Dravid, Virendra Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan.  A few weeks later, India would defeat them once more, this time by an inning, and once more make history. This time, the goal was to triumph in our first Test series played in Pakistan.
