India and Australia are among the two most powerful teams that have gone from strength to strength over the years in the international circuit. The Indian team in particular have shown immense improvement when it comes to cricketing overall. Right from the 2007 T20 World Cup the Indian team have shown improvement in white ball cricket and also were the number one ranked ODI side.

Over the years, there also have been some brilliant performances that have been witnessed in the history of this greatest rivalry. Nevertheless, there have been standout performances by certain individuals that will be remembered by cricket fans for a long time. Here are the three highest individual scores by a batsman in ODIs between India and Australia;

1. 209 – Rohit Sharma in Bengaluru in 2015

In the year 2013, Rohit Sharma achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the third batsman to score a double century in ODIs. Even though he now boasts three ODI double-hundreds, the significance of the first one remains unparalleled. Rohit Sharma’s maiden double century came in Bangalore against Australia, where he smashed 16 sixes on this very date to reach the historic mark, scoring an incredible 209 runs. Rohit also became the third Indian to score a double century in One Day Internationals.

2. 175 – Sachin Tendulkar in Hyderabad in 2009

Sachin Tendulkar has been one of the major difference makers over the years and has also provided some memorable performances during his entire cricketing career. Sachin Tendulkar has demonstrated countless times in the past, he repeated his prowess with a devastating innings of 175 runs from 141 balls. This memorable performance occurred during the fifth ODI between India and Australia on November 5, 2009. Despite the Australians posting a formidable total of 351 on the scoreboard, Sachin’s remarkable knock shifted the momentum and perception in India’s favor.

3. 171* -Rohit Sharma in Perth in 2016

Rohit Sharma has continued his love affair with the Australian bowling attacks in ODIs when he compiled a well-deserved century at WACA in Perth on Tuesday. Rohit’s unbeaten 171 is the highest score by any batsman against Australia in Perth and helped India to their highest total in the country.

The current India skipper carried his bat throughout the innings and remained not out. Rohit even smashed 13 boundaries and seven mind-blowing sixes throughout his unbeaten innings.
