The talented Right-arm fast-medium bowler Harshal Patel made his Indian Premier League debut in 2014. He commenced his journey in the toughest T20 league with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012. In 2024 Harshal played for a new franchise, Punjab Kings. Harshal had been fairly consistent for Punjab in the entire season and became their ‘go-to death over specialist’. On matchday 37, against Gujrat Titans, Harshal showed his class as he bagged 3 wickets conceding only 15 runs in his 3 overs. While defending a below-par target of 143 runs, Harshal kept Punjab in the game as he scalped Omarzai, Shahrukh and Rashid Khan in quick succession. However, Gujrat Titans went on to win the match in the last over with three wickets in-hand.
2. Harshal 5-fer blows away Mumbai ( 5-27 against Mumbai Indians, 2021)
In the 2021 edition of IPL, Mumbai Indians found themselves reeling by Harshal Patel’s mystery. Harshal helped his side restrict a mighty batting line-up of Mumbai Indians to a mere 160 runs. Harshal was introduced into the attack in the 16th over, where he scalped an in-form Hardik Pandya. What followed was a tale of death-bowling brilliance. Harshal took the wickets of Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya and Marco Jansen in his next two overs. RCB won the match on the last ball with two wickets in-hand.
1. Harshal’s hattrick defeats reigning champions ( 4-17 against Mumbai Indians, 2021)
Harshal Patel’s sensational hat-trick spell helped Royal Challengers Bangalore beat their arch-nemesis Mumbai Indians at Abudhabi in 2021. Batting first RCB managed to put on a fighting total. Half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell helped RCB post a total of 165 runs. Mumbai looked dominant while chasing down the target. However, fortunes turned when Harshal Patel was brought back into attack in the 17th over. Harshal scalped Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, and Rahul Chahar in the first three deliveries to deny Mumbai any chance of winning the match.
