Gujarat Titans probable playing XI for their encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad

In this article, we will discuss the Gujarat Titans probable playing XI for their encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium. Gujarat Titans (GT) is set to square off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 12th match of IPL 2024. Both the teams will face off in a day game at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have won 1 out of 2 matches they have played so far but in terms of momentum, both teams are at different spectrums.

On one hand, where Sunrisers Hyderabad is riding high on confidence after a historic win against Mumbai Indians by 31 runs, Gujarat Titans on the other hand took a dent in their confidence after losing to CSK by a margin of 63 runs.

SRH posted the highest total in IPL history against MI which is why they will be oozing with confidence, whereas GT have a lot to ponder on, especially on the batting front. However, GT will face the SRH challenge on their home ground where they have a good record and will like to come back to winning ways. In this article, we will decode the probable XI of the GT for their next match against SRH.

Here is the GT’s probable XI for the 12th match:

  1. Top Order

Top Order

I) Shubman Gill (C)

Shubman Gill is not only the captain of the side but also the most important cog of GT’s batting line-up. The swashbuckling Indian opener had an amazing IPL last year and was the highest run-getter of the tournament with 890 runs to his name. But this year he didn’t get off to a good start so far in the first two matches and GT will desperately be hoping for him to fire yet again.

II) Wriddhiman Saha (wk)

Wriddhiman Saha is the 2nd opener along with Shubman Gill who is expected to provide GT with a rollicking start. Generally, Saha is the aggressor initially between both the openers and has provided GT with some starts in the initial two matches. However, GT will hope that he can last a bit more so that they get a more solid base. He will also don the wicket-keeping gloves for GT.

III) Sai Sudharshan

Sai Sudharshan was the find of the tournament for GT in the last season and was also the highest scorer of the 2023 IPL finals. GT will be hoping for him to maintain the same form or even better his last year’s performance this year.

      2. Middle Order

Middle Order

IV) Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson warmed the bench for the first two matches of the season. However, New Zealand is expected to make it into the playing XI given the inexperienced middle order of the GT. He will provide their batting with some stability they require in the middle order with other batters playing around him.

V) David Miller

David Miller will be the ideal candidate to bolster the GT batting line-up further in the middle-order. Playing at No.5 will give him some time to settle on the crease before unleashing himself on the SRH bowling line-up.

VI) Abhinav Manohar

Abhinav Manohar is another talented batter in the middle order who could make the No. 6 position his own. In the previous editions, Manohar has provided a glimpse of his talent at this stage, and if given an opportunity he could prove out to be handy for GT.

VII) Rahul Tewatia

In the last few years, Rahul Tewatia has proved his worth in gold by finishing some key matches for GT. Tewatia can attack from the get-go and has shown his ability to finish off matches in pressure situations which makes him an ideal choice at No.7.

        3. Bowlers

Bowlers

VIII) Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan has been one of the prominent reasons for the success of GT in the last two editions of the IPL. He chokes the opposition batters with his precise line and length and mysterious spin variations. He is also a handy batter who can hit the long ball at the end of the innings and provides the team with the much-needed blitz at the end.

IX) Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is another Indian veteran bowler who is known to pick up wickets with the new ball. Though he is at the fag end of his career yet he still bowls at a brisk pace and also can hit a long ball at the end.

X) Spencer Johnson

Spencer Johnson made his debut for Australia last year and also had a remarkable BBL. The left-arm Australian pacer is a genuine wicket-taker and a great addition to the GT bowling line-up and will provide the required variation to their pace attack.

XI) Sai Kishore

Sai Kishore has been a prominent name in the Indian domestic circuit but didn’t get a decent run in the IPL till the start of this season. But in the initial two matches for the GT, the left-arm spinner from Tamil Nadu impressed everyone with his precise line and length. He generally delivers in the middle order and chokes the opposition batting line-up with his wicket-to-wicket bowling.

Impact player

Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma made a sensational comeback last year in the IPL and impressed everyone with his bowling, especially in the death overs. Mohit Sharma picked up crucial wickets for GT last year and could very well be used to bolster their bowling line-up against SRH as an impact player.
