The Australian great achieved his best bowling figures in ODI cricket on the biggest stage of world cricket, the ODI World Cup. In the 2003 World Cup, the Kangaroos faced Namibia in the group stage and the defending champions left the opposition shell-shocked. Batting first, Australia posted a huge target (302) for Namibia to chase but the chasing side had no chance in the second innings as McGrath wreaked havoc to wrap up the run chase for just 45 runs. The fast bowler picked up 7 wickets and also won the player of the match award.

5/14 vs West Indies, 1999

Here is another major World Cup performance from Glenn McGrath. In the 1999 World Cup, which was eventually won by Australia, he registered a 5-wicket haul to his name in a group stage encounter against West Indies. The Kangaroos elected to bowl first after winning the toss and McGrath grabbed that opportunity. He demolished the West Indies batting order with the new ball and helped his team restrict them to a miserable total of 110 runs in the first innings. This target was chased down comfortably by Australia in the second innings to win the match by 6 wickets.

5/27 vs Pakistan, 2005

McGrath delivered this lethal bowling spell against Pakistan in the later stage of his career. Australia and Pakistan locked horns in the 2005 VB series finals. The second final witnessed an all-time great brewing his magic with a white ball in his hand. The Aussies were defending 240 runs in the second innings and needed a strong bowling display to prevent the opposition from completing the run chase. McGrath stepped up and did the job for his team as he took 5 wickets which proved to be decisive in the end. The Kangaroos won the low-scoring clash by 31 runs and McGrath was awarded the player of the match for his impressive bowling contribution.
