121 vs England, 1973
Farokh Engineer played his best Test knock in the very later phase of his international career. The English team toured India for a 5-match Test series in 1972/73. The last match of the series was played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Farokh was one of the main protagonists for India in that match. He opened the innings and smashed 121 runs. India suffered an early blow when the young Gavaskar was dismissed for an individual score of 4. Then Engineer built a partnership with the skipper Ajit Wadekar to rescue the team. At the end of the first innings India posted a massive 448 runs on the board.
109 vs West Indies, 1967
This is the first century in Engineer’s Test career and he achieved this milestone against West Indies in Chennai. The Indian team batted first in the third Test of the series and once again the opener Farokh Engineer displayed his batting brilliance. He scored runs quickly and completed his maiden century against a formidable West Indian bowling lineup. When he got out India had 145 runs in the account and out of those 109 runs belonged to Farokh Engineer.
90 vs New Zealand, 1965
In the early stages of his Test career Engineer played in the lower order and this knock was played in the lower order. The wicketkeeper-batter scored valuable 90 runs against New Zealand and it was his contribution that propelled India to 397 runs in the first innings. He smashed these 90 runs off just 115 deliveries. His batting effort in the lower order gave solidity to the Indian team and crucial runs which helped the team exert pressure on the Kiwis.
