After South Africa came back into the cricket fold, the team started from where they had left off. The likes of Kepler Wessels, Kirsten Brothers, Jonty Rhodes, Hansie Cronje, and Allan Donald found fame and success. One player though made sure that the re-entry into cricket fold was seamless.

David Richardson the former South African wicket keeper and batter became a huge part of the side. His test debut came against West Indies in the only Test in Barbados. The home team won the game as the visitors failed to chase the paltry score of 201 and were bowled out for 148. Richardson scored a total of 10 in the game and also took 6 catches in the game.

By the end of his career which was against Australia at Adelaide in 1998, Dave Richardson has played 42 matches and scored 1359 runs with one century and 8 fifties. Richardson also had taken 150 Test catches and 2 stumpings to end his glittering but short international career.
