The Indian T20 League is currently the biggest T20 league on the planet. While playing in the ITL is fun for all participants, some restrictions must be followed. The organisers will ban any cricketer who violates them. The organisers issue the player a suspension or a ban based on the regulations they violated. While some players have received lifetime bans, the following three returned to the league after serving suspensions.
Ravindra Jadeja, former captain of the Chennai franchise, was suspended before the 2010 campaign. He reportedly had discussions with representatives of another team while playing for the Rajasthan Royals.
Jadeja missed the 2010 Indian T20 League campaign but made a comeback in 2011. Jadeja played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala for one season before switching to the Chennai Super Kings for the 2012 ITL season. He was the costliest player in 2012’s ITL Players’ Auction.
The first player to lead the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian T20 League was Harbhajan Singh. Sachin Tendulkar was injured in MI’s opening match of the 2008 campaign, and the spinner took the lead.
Nevertheless, during a game between Mumbai and Punjab, Singh became embroiled in a contentious altercation with Punjab Kings’ fast bowler Sreesanth. He allegedly slapped Sreesanth resulting in the ‘Slapgate’ controversy. He missed the rest of the 2008 season as a result of the Indian Cricket Board’s 11-match suspension. Then in 2009, Singh returned to the league.
3. Rasikh Salam
Rasikh Salam, a fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, made his Indian T20 League debut in 2019 for the Mumbai Indians. He was included in the starting line-up for the game against the Delhi Capitals. The youngster, though, was not very impressive. In his four overs without a wicket, he allowed 42 runs and was dismissed.
A few weeks after the 2019 edition’s conclusion, Rasikh Salam was banned by the Indian Cricket Board after providing a false birth certificate. He was given a two-year suspension just before travelling to England to play for the India U-19s in a tri-series.
Salam entered 2022’s edition of the ITL following the completion of his suspension. Kolkata franchise purchased him at the super auction. Salam bowled a respectable 0/18 against his former team, the Mumbai, on his Kolkata debut Friday night.
