Ashes 2023: Top 3 bowlers who could finish as top wicket-takers of the series

The Ashes 2023, which will be hosted by England, are set to start on Friday, June 16, 2023, and end on Monday, July 31, 2023. Australia’s cricket team will play a series of 5 Test Matches in England in 2023, with the final game of the series taking place at London’s Kennington Oval from July 27 to July 31, 2023. With the coveted Test tournament getting closer every passing day, here is a look at the three bowlers who could end up scalping the most wickets in the series.

3. Stuart Broad, England

Stuart Broad

With 581 dismissals in 162 Tests, Stuart Broad is England’s second-leading wicket-taker in that format. In one session during the 2015 Ashes series in Nottingham, he defeated Australia by himself with his greatest bowling performance of 8/15. He returned to Test Cricket in the one-off test against Ireland and produced a magical spell yielding his another five-wicket haul in the first innings. Broad looks in great rhythm and he merits a chance at becoming the highest-wicket taker of the Ashes 2023.

2. Mitchell Starc, Australia

Mitchell Starc can produce swing in addition to pace. His arsenal includes both traditional and reverse swings, and the two of them together may be effective. The 2022 test series against Pakistan where Starc threw a terrific reverse swinging yorker to get rid of Fawad Alam is a dismissal every cricket aficionado remembers. With 306 wickets in 77 tests, Starc is the highest wicket-taker among active Australian pacers. A performance that lives up to this reputation will be expected from the left-hander at the Ashes 2023.

1. James Anderson, England

James Anderson is unquestionably the best bowler in England and one of the best speed bowlers of all time. With 685 Test wickets under his belt, Anderson leads all fast bowlers in Test wicket-taking, and with 179 caps for England, he holds the record for most Test appearances. The 40-year-old could be playing in his final English Summer and hands down, he’d want to leave his mark on it. Considering the pitches in England, pacers would be more effective in the game and Anderson would be the favorite to end as the highest wicket-taker.
