3. 133 not out versus Sri Lanka – Edgbaston- 2016
Sri Lanka batted first and were restricted to just 254/7 from their allotted 50 overs. Upul Tharanga top scored with 53 as Dinesh Chandimal scored 52. Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett were the stars with the ball picking two wickets each.
Chasing 255 to win, Jason Roy and Alex Hales took the team home to an easy win unscathed. The target was achieved inside the 35th over with Jason Roy scoring 112 not out. Alex Hales though took the limelight as he was not out on 133 runs from just 110 balls with 10 fours and six massive hits into the crowd.
2. 147 versus Australia – Nottingham -2018
Tim Paine and his Australian side were touring England for a short white ball series. The visitors did not have David Warner and Steve Smith, who were banned for their part in the Sand-paper saga.
England took full advantage as they posted a then ODI record score of 481 in front of a noisy Nottingham crowd. After Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow had flayed the Aussies bowling to add 159 runs in just 19.3 overs, it was Alex Hales’ turn. The local lad scored 147 runs from just 92 balls to pulverize the visitors and score what was his final ODI ton.
1. 171 versus Pakistan – Nottingham – 2016
The year 2016 was special for Alex Hales as he scored three ODI tons during the calendar year. On the 30th of August 2016, playing in front of his home crowd in Nottingham, Alex Hales put on his best show in the England shirt.
The right-handed opener scored a career best 171 from a mere 122 balls to help his side reach 444/3 on the board. With 22 fours and 4 sixes, the crowd at Trent Bridge were witnessing some brutal hitting for 166 minutes. Alex Hales was declared the man of the match as Pakistan were vanquished by 169 runs.
