3 West Indies players to watch out for in their clash against South Africa in T20 World Cup 2024

West Indies showed the entire world why they are the most feared T20 side in the world. The two times T20 World Cup winners beat USA by 9 wickets in their 2nd Super -8 match in Barbados late on Friday evening. It was a timely win for the hosts who had lost their first match in a convincing fashion to England.

South Africa’s win over the defending champions meant that West Indies were given a new lease of life. The Caribbean side took it with both hands as they bowled out the United States of America for a mere 128 and chased down the target in 10.5 overs.

With renewed enthusiasm, the West Indians will now take on South Africa in their final match of the Super-8 stages. They have to win in order to keep their hopes of making it to the Semis alive.

Here we cast a closer look at the top 3 players to watch out for from West Indies against South Africa:

3. Roston Chase

The West Indian star picked 3 wickets with the ball to hurt the USA batters. The South Africans have 2 left-handed batters in their top order who could be troubled by his spin bowling. Roston Chase doesn’t rely too much on flight and guile and believes more in bowling a stump-to-stump line and getting the batters out with his pace. The likes of Quinton De Kock and David Miller could potentially struggle against Chase if there is enough spin on the wicket.

2. Shai Hope

It is a surprise that Shai Hope didn’t get too many chances in the first few games of the campaign. The veteran batter replaced Brandon King in the team and opened the batting. His 82 not out came off mere 38 balls as he hit 8 huge sixes in his knock. If West Indies have to make it to the next phase, Shai Hope’s form will be very crucial for the home side.

1. Nicholas Pooran

It is scary that Nicholas Pooran is just starting to peak as a cricketer. The left-handed batter. The left-handed batter has been the most consistent player for his side and his form in the T20 format in the last few months has been taking the upward flight. His run-scoring form with the bat makes him one of the best players in the world and a player to watch out for against South Africa.
