3 things KL Rahul needs to do to get back to India's Playing XI

Discover three key steps KL Rahul should take to regain his spot in India’s Playing XI. The struggles of KL Rahul have started once again and his chances of making it to the squad for the Border Gavaskar series are now looking bleak. This time we will be discussing the 3 things the talented middle-order batter might need to get a place in the Indian team once again and get to be the first-choice player he was back in the day in International cricket.

We all know that KL Rahul is one of the biggest talents in Indian Cricket known for his incredible technique and elegant shots. There have been some great knocks played by the 32-year-old who has scored over 8000 runs in International cricket and has led the team on a few occasions as well. However, it has not been a good run-off form so far for Rahul and with young players coming up there are many things he has to look into

So, here are the 3 things KL Rahul will need to get back into the India’s Playing XI:

1. Change in approach

The most criticism we are getting from KL Rahul is his approach towards the game especially in the modern day. The old KL Rahul who had impressed us with his shotmaking seems to have suddenly disappeared into the anchor role and maybe he has to bring back that same approach in his game going forward through which he can find some success in every format of the game.

2. Needs runs under his belt

The Test format has seen some underwhelming performances from KL Rahul and that has made his position in the side a bit tough. The lack of runs and with youngsters like Sarfaraz Khan and Shubman Gill performing is not going to make it easier for him. Rahul will have to play some big knocks to once again establish himself as a first choice player otherwise his selection in the team in the future is not looking promising at all.

3. Getting used to the middle-order role

KL Rahul used to open the batting for the Indian team in the past but with the likes of Jaiswal and Gill in the squad it seems like his comeback in that position looks highly unlikely. Rahul might have some runs in the middle order in ODI’s but he still has to get used to that role in the longer format which he has failed to do so far. Rahul has to gain the trust of the team once again if he wants to once again establish himself among the eleven players on the field once again.
