3 Star South Africa players who might be left out from ODI World Cup 2023 squad

South Africa have been one of the strongest ODI sides since the turn of the decade and were seemingly close back in 2015 to their first ever ODI World Cup final. The 2015 side was arguably one of the best ODI sides in the world, but did not have the luck when they needed it the most. They will try again this year. Meanwhile, let us look at some Proteas players who might be left out from the ODI World Cup 2023 squad.

1. Sisanda Magala

Sisanda Magala played for the Joburg Super Kings during the first SA20 tournament after being brought in to replace ailing Kyle Jamieson before the IPL 2023. At the Wankhede Stadium on April 8, he made his IPL debut as CSK defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI). His stocks have been rising and he has been amongst the wickets whenever he plays

He has been with the South African side for some time now but with already so many great pacers in the squad, his chances to be in the squad for the World Cup are diminishing. India is a spin friendly nation and the team management might wanna stock up on those players and Magala might be the one who has to be left out in this case.

2. Tristan Stubbs

Tristan Stubbs was considered to be one of the best upcoming players from the young South African generation. But unfortunately, the player has not been able to live upto the hype and his stocks have been rapidly diminishing.

His performances have been rather ordinary and with the World Cup looming large it is unlikely that he would be selected into the team. The team already has two quality keepers in the form of Quinton de Kock and Henrich Klassen, so adding a third keeper who would not make the playing XI does not make sense at all and is one of the major reasons why he might be left out.

3. Wayne Parnell

Wayne Parnell was one of the brightest sparks for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this year and was one of their key bowlers in their side. Despite his heroics for the franchise, his selection in the South African national team might be in doubt as he has not been able to replicate those performances for the side.

Being a left-arm seamer is a big thing in world cricket but with a young left-arm fast bowler in the form of Marco Jansen, the team might not think of taking the veteran to the tournament. But he is one of the players whose selection might be on the brink and might be one of the reserve players for the competition.
