3 Star New Zealand players who might be left out from ODI World

The 2023 World Cup will be held in India but this time it will be hosted only by one nation unlike how it happened in 2011. The 50 over extravaganza will take place in 10 venues around the country. When it comes to India, they will be looking to repeat what they did in 2011 and win their third world cup title. They will be wanting to win the cup for their home fans.

For the 2019 runners up New Zealand they will want to go one step ahead and clinch their maiden World Cup title. When the World Cup happened in 2011 New Zealand made it to the semi finals of the 2011 World Cup and lost to Sri Lanka  by 5 wickets. With a much more potent bowling attack this time around, The Kiwis will want to go all the way.

Let us take a look at three probable who might not make the cut to the tournament.

3.Henry Nicholls

Henry Nicholls

Henry Nicholls has made 1746 runs in 66 games for the blackcaps. He has hit a ton and 13 fifties. Nicholls could not be in contention because it remains to be seen where he would bat for the Kiwis. He has batted in the top order and in the middle order for his national side. At 31 years of age, he might not make the cut with plenty of young batters coming in.

2. Colin Munro

Colin Munro

Colin Munro has hit 1271 runs in 57 matches at a strike rate of 104.69. The left-hander has hit eight half centuries in the 50 over format. Unlike T20s Munro has struggled to find the right tempo in ODIs. Munro is currently 36 years of age and with New Zealand having a lot of young batters coming through it is unlikely that Munro will make the cut. He has not played an ODI since 2019.

1. Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill has made 7346 runs in 198 matches. The right hander has hit 18 hundreds and 39 fifties for his side. He has scored a double hundred in the 2015 World Cup. At the age of 36, it remains to be seen whether he can make the cut and play another World Cup.
