3-star bowlers who never won the purple cap in IPL

The fever of IPL will soon start taking over the country. The biggest franchise league will be back with all its fanfare around. Fans wait to find out the champions at the end of the season with bated breath but there is always an interest about individual records as well. Orange and Purple caps are the most tightly contested prizes in the league and it is not easy to grab either of them. In this article, we will take a look at 3-star bowlers who have never won the purple cap in the IPL.

Piyush Chawla

The veteran leg-spinner has been one of the regular features in the league. Piyush Chawla has also lifted the title on multiple occasions and along with that he is also the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the league. Chawla has 179 wickets to his name in 181 matches but the experienced leggie has never won the purple cap.

Rashid Khan

The spin talisman from Afghanistan is one of the most valuable players in the league. For whichever team he has played he has done exceedingly well but interestingly Rashid Khan has never laid hands on the purple cap which also shows how tough the competition is. The star leg-spinner has taken 139 wickets in just 109 wickets at a phenomenal average of 20.75. The Afghan has come close to claiming the purple cap on multiple occasions but every time he has missed the opportunity by a whisker. However, he still has a lot of time left in the league and can certainly win the prized purple cap soon.

Jasprit Bumrah

Arguably the most dangerous bowler in world cricket currently, Jasprit Bumrah, is another notable absentee from the list of purple cap winners. Mumbai Indians have been one of the most successful teams in the last few years and a huge credit for that goes to the Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah. He has led the bowling attack of MI with unbelievable consistency but one thing that has escaped his reach is the purple cap. However, looking at the wicket-taking form he is going through it will not be a big surprise if he emerges as the purple cap holder at the end of the upcoming season.
