3 South African players to watch out for in their clash against Nepal in T20 World Cup 2024

South Africa (SA) has booked their berth in the Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup with three consecutive victories. The Proteas men opened their campaign with a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka and followed up with four-wicket victories over the Netherlands and Bangladesh in their subsequent matches.

With six points and a net run rate of +0.603, South Africa currently tops the Group D points table. Aidan Markram and Co. will face Nepal (NEP) next and their sole aim is to finish as table toppers with a comfortable win. With the tournament shifted entirely to the West Indies, the upcoming SA vs NEP clash will be played at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent on Saturday, June 15.

Here are 3 South African players to watch out for in their match against Nepal:

3. Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje

Antich Nortje has had a tremendous outing in the USA, taking eight wickets in three matches, including a four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka. Additionally, the right-arm pacer currently has the third-best economy rate – 3.58. The Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown is equally helpful for batters and bowlers, so expect Nortje to play a key role with his fiery pace deliveries.

2. Keshav Maharaj

Based on the data from the last two years, the pitch at Arnos Vale Ground is best suited to spinners. Keshav Maharaj was effective in the USA conditions, picking up five wickets in three matches. The left-arm orthodox bowler is expected to play a big role in Caribbean conditions. He is also capable of contributing a few crucial runs in the bottom order.

1. David Miller

David Miller has scored 94 runs in three matches, including a match-winning fifty against the Netherlands. He scored an unbeaten 59 off 51 balls as the rest of the batters struggled to find runs, leading South Africa to a four-wicket victory. His contribution of 29 runs in the last match was crucial for the Proteas team to reach a competitive total against Bangladesh. Miller is likely to score big against Nepal as the pitch in Kingstown is balanced.
