3 reasons why Will Jacks is the better pick for Mumbai Indians

3 reasons why Will Jacks is the better pick for MI

Discover 3 compelling reasons why Will Jacks is the ideal pick for Mumbai Indians: England’s star batting all-rounder, Will Jacks made his debut appearance in the Indian Premier League in the tournament’s 2024 edition. He was in action for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament’s 17th edition. Jacks had an impressive run of form with the bat in the tournament, scoring 230 runs in eight innings with a decent batting average of 32.86, including an unbeaten century and a half-century.

The 26-year-old also made it to the headlines for his explosive century against Gujarat Titans to help RCB clinch a huge 9-wicket win in the league stage of IPL 2024. Jacks bashed the GT bowlers in all corners of the ground, hitting 10 sixes and five fours. He also stitched a match-winning and decisive unbeaten partnership of 166 runs with former skipper Virat Kohli to chase down the target for RCB in just 16 overs.

In the same line of events, Mumbai Indians bought the English all-rounder for an amount of INR 5.25 crores in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Subsequently, RCB refused to utilize their RTM card to get Jacks on board.

Here are the 3 reasons why Will Jacks is the better pick for Mumbai Indians (MI):

Brilliant form in IPL 2024

Will Jacks had an amazing run in the 2024 edition of the tournament, scoring 230 runs in eight innings with an impressive strike rate of 175.57, hitting 16 fours and 18 sixes. He was one of the top performers for RCB and played a crucial role in helping RCB to reach the tournament’s playoff stage.

His form in the IPL 2024 is also one of the reasons Mumbai had made up their mind to get him to strengthen their squad for the next edition. Jacks will be eyeing continuing his 2024 edition’s batting form in 2025 while playing for MI.

Aggressive approach in top-order

Jacks smashed the memorable unbeaten century for RCB in IPL 2024’s league match while batting at number three. It also translates into the fact that he can continue the explosive stroke-making intent for MI in the IPL 2025 whenever they get a fiery start from their openers.

The Englishman’s aggressive approach could play a vital role in posting a big total for MI in the first innings or chasing a tough total in the second innings. It may have been one of the justifiable reasons for MI to get him on board for the 18th edition of the tournament.

Able to provide stability in middle-order

Besides scoring quick runs at the top of the order, the Surrey-born batting all-rounder might also play an important role in the middle order for the five-time champions. The MI management might think of sending him to bat at number 4 or 5 to provide stability in the middle order in case of a top-order collapse for the team.

Jacks is also expected to play the role of a finisher for MI, alongside providing stability to the scoreboard while batting in the middle order. This could be also one of the strong and valid arguments which advocate for the Englishman’s place in the Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025.
