3 reasons why SRH’s batting unit has failed to deliver after their first win in IPL 2025

3 reasons why SRH's batting unit has failed to deliver after their first win in IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a spectacular start to the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL).  They defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 80 runs as they put 286 runs on the scoreboard. The Orange Army has played hard from the beginning like they always do, but they have lost too many wickets and scored only a few runs in the last two games.

Their batting strategy lacks power, which is the issue.  After winning the first game, they have since lost their last two games against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). However they will soon figure out the issue and will be back on the winning side.

1. Lack of a player who can anchor the innings:

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting order lacks sufficient depth and dependability despite the impact player rule.  Despite all the quality, they have Abhinav Manohar at number seven, who hasn’t been reliable.  Pat Cummins, who can play huge shots but isn’t dependable enough to play those cameos frequently, is SRH’s backup underneath Manohar.  In the last game, Wiaan Mulder was an impact player for SRH but his batting isn’t good enough for the IPL.  He frequently needs a few balls before he starts to score and struggles to make huge shots regularly.  There aren’t enough alternatives for their team, therefore SRH is also unable to solve this issue.

2. Huge expectations:

Many records were broken by SRH in the IPL 2024, which affected their mindset for the 2025 IPL.  Fans have had great hopes for the team since the beginning.  But SRH scored 286 runs in the opening game, and since then, the supporters have pushed SRH to score more runs.  Because of this, they continued to lose wickets in an attempt to score runs, and SRH’s batting was affected.

3. The poor form of Batter:

Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Abhishek Sharma are not doing well with the bat.  Abhishek Sharma isn’t giving the team a strong start. Last year Sharma and Travis Head scored the most runs in power play. But this time he is losing wicket power play which brings Ishan Kishan to bat early. Even though Ishan Kishan scored a century in his first game with SRH, Ishan Kishan too struggled to find his rhythm.  Since Nitish Kumar Reddy’s position on the team is still up in the air, his performance is getting impacted.
