3 Reasons Why Rohit Sharma Can Maintain His Resurgent Form in the 3rd ODI

3 Reasons Why Rohit Sharma Can Maintain His Resurgent Form in the 3rd ODI

Rohit Sharma’s century in the 2nd ODI against England helped India to close the three-match ODI series by 2-0. In Cuttack Rohit Sharma scored his 32nd as he got his form back. In recent times Rohit Sharma was seen struggling with the bat to get runs. During the two test series at home against New Zealand and in away series against Australia he could not score many runs and was the centre of criticism. He also struggled in Ranji cricket as he failed to cross 50 runs in both innings.

The struggle continued in the first ODI against England in Nagpur. He went on two runs but in the second ODI he roared back. Ahead of the third match and ICC Champions League 2025 it was necessary for Rohit Sharma to get back his form as India are one of the favourite teams to win the trophy.

1. His calculated approach in the innings

In the second ODI against England, Rohit Sharma hit a century from 76 balls. This was his 32nd ODI century. Rohit Sharma got off to a good start as he showed fearless attitude and started attacking England bowlers. This attitude has helped him in the past also. During the ICC World Cup 2023 Rohit Sharma helped India to get quick runs. This century was his second fastest century.

2. Complimentary batting to Shubman Gill’s style

Before Yashasvi Jaiswal making his ODI debut Rohit Sharma used to open the batting for India with Shubman Gill. The duo had a lot of good partnership during the ICC World Cup 2023. Both Rohit Sharma and Shuman Gill had great understanding. Rohit Sharma used to attack bowlers while Gill used to anchor the innings. In the second ODI they had a partnership of 150 runs. This understanding will help them in the third ODI as well.

3. Maintain consistency ahead of Champions Trophy.

Now that he has scored a century, questions about his form are silent.  In recent times many doubts were raised on his form and retirement rumors started to surface. Now that he has scored a century his confidence has boosted ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Rohit Sharma looks once again ready to lift the ICC Champions Trophy after missing it out in 2017.
