3 reasons why Phil Salt is better pick for Royal Challengers Bengaluru

3 reasons why Phil Salt is better pick for Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might have one of the biggest fanbases in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but it hasn’t helped them to become the champion in the 17 years of the league’s history. RCB have reached it three times in IPL finals but they have always fallen short of lifting the trophy.

However, this time, the franchise have tried to recruit some new faces after releasing some star players like Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Phil Salt, Tim David and Liam Livingstone have joined the team. Salt will be crucial for RCB in the upcoming season as he will be opening the batting.

Here are the 3 reasons why Phil Salt is better pick for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB):

1. Replacement for Will Jacks

RCB fans were very disappointed when the franchise didn’t bought back their star batter Will Jacks who scored a magnificent century in the last season. However, Phil Salt is a better replacement for Jacks as Salt was ruthless for KKR last season and played a crucial role for them to become the IPL champion for the 3rd time.

2. Good record in previous IPL season

Phil Salt was signed as a replacement by KKR for Jason Roy who opted out of the league. However, it ended up as a good thing for KKR as Salt scored 435 runs in just 12 matches with an amazing strike rate of 182. RCB will be hoping to get the same performance from Salt as they spent a whopping amount of 11.50 crore to acquire his services.

3. No. 2 ranked T20I batter in the world

The star English batter has been performing well for his national team as well. He is currently the no. 2 ranked T20I batter in the world sitting behind the Australian star Travis Head. Salt was also seen leading the national side in the absence of their regular skipper Jos Buttler.
