3 reasons why Mohammad Rizwan deserves to be Pakistan’s white-ball Cricket captain

3 reasons why Mohammad Rizwan deserves to be Pakistan's white-ball Cricket captain

The Pakistan team is no doubt still one of the top Asian sides in the World of cricket and have recently enjoyed great success against England in the Test series. But there is still debate about changing the captaincy in the white ball format where we have seen some disappointing performances from the Babar Azam led side especially in the T20 World Cup which took place in the Caribbean and USA.

There are still people who might think Babar still needs some more time to lead the side, However the South Asian giants have made a change and Mohammad Rizwan has taken the reins in the white ball format. There are some great reasons why this change could be good for the team with what Rizwan can bring to the table and do for the team.

So, here are the 3 reasons why Rizwan should lead the Pakistan side in the white ball format:

1. In form Pakistan batter

Mohammad Rizwan has been in phenomenal form so far especially in white ball cricket. In the 16 T20I matches he has played so far he has scored 516 runs at an average of over 45 and his 2023 ODI season also went very well. This will give him a lot of confidence going into the captaincy role and hopefully he brings out the best in the team going forward.

2. Flamboyant nature can bring out some flair

We should not forget that Rizwan is known to be one of the most flamboyant batters in the side and has a lot of energy on the field. We have also seen that he has a really good connection with his teammates and this can help the team bring out some flair and tactics which has been missing in the Pakistan side this season. The Pakistan team will surely hope that he brings out the same flair and energy while leading the team as well.

3. Keepers have great vision

There have been a lot of keeper batters who have gone on to become great captains in the future. The likes of MS Dhoni and Kumara Sangakara are the players who come to mind. Rizwan has proven himself to be great behind the stumps and he will also have the perfect vision on the field and can communicate with the bowlers as well. This will be an advantage for the Pakistan team going into the white ball format whether it is ODI’s or T20I’s.
