3 reasons why India can still win the T20I series against West Indies

3 reasons why India can still win the T20I series against West Indies

India won the 3rd match of the ongoing 5-match T20I series against West Indies by 7 wickets and avoided the series loss as the equation has now come down to West Indies leading 2-1. However, the job is still not done for the Men in Blue as they have to win the remaining 2 T20Is of the series in order to win the series by 3-2.

India lost the first two matches of the series when they were in a comfortable situation to win the match, which means that the Caribbean side didn’t completely dominate India in the first two matches. On that note, we will take a look at the 3 reasons why India can still win the T20I series against West Indies.

1. Change of venues

The remaining two matches of the series will now be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida, USA. The change of venue can work for the Indian team as the pitch in Guyana and Trinidad was very slow and tricky. The surface in Florida may help the out-of-form Indian batters to get their form back and score big for the team and for themselves as well. Players like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson struggled a lot in the first 3 T20Is of the series.

2. Tilak Varma’s consistency

The 20-year-old left-hander Tilak Varma made his T20I debut in the first match of the ongoing T20I series and has performed well in all the 3 matches he has played till now. He has scored 39, 51 and 49* in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd T20I matches so far and has proved how consistent he can be. India will need his consistency in the remaining two matches as well.

3. Bowlers performing consistently well

Indian batters may have disappointed the fans with their horrible batting performance in the series, but it’s not the same case with the bowlers as they have impressed in all the 3 matches. Whether it’s about taking wickets or bowling economically, the bowlers have delivered everything, especially the spinners. In the pace bowling department, Arshdeep Singh and skipper Hardik Pandya have done very well, and they have to do well in the remaining 2 T20Is to win the series.
