The upcoming mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be conducted in December and the franchise owners are quite excited about it due to certain changes in rules. While the Board hasn’t announced the details of the changes, several reports revealed the plans for the Impact Sub-rule and many other rules.
Hence, it will be interesting to see how the tournament turns out this time. However, the Chennai Super Kings franchise will look to buy better players this year who can sustain the team for a longer time. But they will also look to leave Sameer Rizvi, who was the youngster but didn’t do much in the tournament.
Let’s check out the three reasons why CSK must let go of Sameer Rizvi ahead of IPL 2025:
1. Higher Price
CSK brought Sameer Rizvi for INR 8.5 crores in the auction as the player had wreaked havoc in the domestic tournaments last year. But now, if they leave him, the purse prize will increase, and they can get someone better than him. Paying so much for a youngster who wasn’t reliable is not the risk CSK will take in this year’s auction.
2. Middle-order is packed up
With Dhoni, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja in the team, there is no need for Rizvi in the middle order. Moreover, CSK did try to send him up the order but he failed massively. Hence, they’ll have to leave him and look for someone who will be handy and can settle well with the other players. Plus, he wasn’t reliable too.
3. Poor performance in IPL 2024
If we look at the performance of Sameer Rizvi in IPL 2024, he wasn’t impressive at all. He got an ample number of chances but still failed to perform. Hence, keeping him will be a loss to CSK in the future. Now, the management will have to look into the future of the team and Rizvi doesn’t fit into it. He is inexperienced and will have to play for some more years to get a permanent place in the IPL.
